Who it suits

Built for people the clinic cannot reach

Telehealth physiotherapy is a genuine option when getting to a clinic is hard. You might live a long drive from a good physiotherapist, work shifts that never line up with clinic hours, or be stuck waiting for a local appointment while your pain and your questions pile up.

It also suits injured workers anywhere in Australia, and especially in regional and remote areas, who need to start treatment quickly. A fast video assessment means you are diagnosed, reassured and given a plan in days rather than weeks, which is exactly when early advice does the most good.

If we ever feel you genuinely need hands on care or to be seen in person, we will tell you plainly and help you find the right local option. Telehealth is not the answer for everything, and we are honest about that.

  • People outside the Sutherland Shire who want a PACT assessment
  • Regional and remote workers with a new or ongoing injury
  • Busy or shift based schedules that clinic hours do not fit
  • Early advice for a fresh work injury before it settles in
  • Follow up reviews and exercise progression between in person visits
  • Anyone who simply prefers care from home or work
How a session works

A real consultation, not a quick phone chat

You book a time, we confirm your details and send a secure video link. There are no apps to install. You join on a phone, tablet or computer with a camera, and you only need a small bit of space to move.

On the call we take a full history, talk through how the problem behaves, and guide you through movement tests so we can reach a working diagnosis. From there you get clear advice on what is going on, what helps, what to avoid for now, and a tailored exercise program demonstrated live and sent to you afterwards.

Most people leave the first session knowing what the problem is and exactly what to do next. We book reviews to check your progress, adjust the plan and keep you moving forward.

  • Book online or by phone and get a secure video link
  • Full history and a guided movement assessment
  • A working diagnosis and clear, practical advice
  • A tailored exercise program shown live and sent to you
  • Follow up reviews to progress the plan
What it is good for

Where telehealth physio works well

Video physiotherapy is well suited to assessment, advice, education and exercise based rehabilitation. For most musculoskeletal aches, strains and overuse problems, a guided assessment is enough to diagnose the issue, settle your worries and get a proper program underway.

It is also strong for early intervention on a work injury. Getting clear, calm guidance in the first days, including what your body can safely handle and how to stay active, often makes a real difference to how a recovery unfolds.

Exercise and self management are the engine of most recoveries, and both translate beautifully to video. We can coach technique, load and progression just as we would in the room.

Work injury

Telehealth for an accepted work injury claim

If you have an accepted workers compensation claim, telehealth physiotherapy can be part of your care, but it does come with conditions set by SIRA. Telehealth is generally provided in combination with some in person treatment, unless your insurer has pre approved care delivered entirely by video. It must be by videoconference where available, and it needs to be agreed by you, your physiotherapist and your insurer.

Because of this, we look at whether video care is clinically right for you on a case by case basis, and we arrange any approval your insurer requires before we begin. It is not something we can simply switch on, so we set it up properly rather than promise more than the scheme allows.

Where treatment is approved and reasonably necessary on an accepted claim, it is billed directly to your insurer, so there is no gap fee and nothing for you to pay at your appointment. Every claim is a little different, so we confirm your exact arrangement with your insurer or case manager before we start.

Who you see

Experienced care from work injury onwards

Your telehealth sessions are with Andrew Ellis, founder and principal physiotherapist at PACT. Andrew is an AHPRA registered and SIRA approved physiotherapist with 16 years of experience across the SIRA NSW workers compensation scheme.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, a Master of Physiotherapy, is completing an Executive MBA, and brings a background as a Senior Rehabilitation Consultant and Workplace Health and Safety Advisor. He works closely with insurers, case managers and employers to support a safe and sustainable return to work.

With 14 plus years of dry needling and a focus on occupational rehabilitation, Andrew is the physiotherapist behind @thedryneedlingphysio. The standard of care does not drop because you are joining by video from a small town.

Cost

No out of pocket cost

On an accepted workers compensation or CTP claim, your treatment is billed directly to the insurer. There is no gap and nothing for you to pay at your appointment, and we handle the invoicing for you. If you are a private patient, see our fees.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know

Does telehealth physiotherapy actually work?
For most musculoskeletal injuries, it can work well. A guided video assessment lets us diagnose the problem, give you clear advice and set up an exercise program tailored to you, then progress it at follow up. If we feel you genuinely need hands on care or an in person review, we will tell you honestly and help you find a good local option.
Where is PACT Virtual Care available?
Right across Australia, including regional and remote areas. It is built for people who are outside our local Sutherland Shire area or who cannot easily get to a clinic. You can learn more on our PACT Virtual Care page.
What do I need for an online physio session?
A phone, tablet or computer with a camera, a reliable internet connection, and a small bit of space to move. We send a secure video link, with no apps to install. Wear clothing you can move in comfortably.
Can I use telehealth physio for a work injury claim?
It can be available on an accepted workers compensation claim, but it is conditional under SIRA. Telehealth is generally combined with some in person treatment unless your insurer has pre approved video only care, must be by videoconference, and must be agreed by you, your physiotherapist and your insurer. We assess what is right for you and arrange any approval needed, then confirm the arrangement with your insurer or case manager before starting.
Is there anything to pay for work injury telehealth?
On an accepted claim, approved and reasonably necessary treatment is billed directly to your insurer, so there is no gap fee and nothing for you to pay at the appointment. This applies to accepted claims and approved sessions only, not to pending or declined claims.
How quickly can I be seen?
Often the same day when we have capacity, and usually within the same week. Fast access is one of the main reasons telehealth suits a fresh work injury, where early advice helps the most. Call (02) 8330 6776 or book online to get started.
