Physio Gymea: One Stop from the Village to Our Door
Gymea Bay Road keeps a lot of people on their feet from the first coffee to the last table, and sore heels, tight lower backs and stiff necks come with the territory. Andrew treats those from our Miranda clinic, one stop along the train line or a short run down the Kingsway.

Standing all day on Gymea Bay Road
Gymea has one of the oldest village strips in the Shire, and a lot of the work along it happens standing up. Behind a counter, at a coffee machine, on a shop floor, hours pass without sitting down. Heels ache by mid afternoon, the lower back tightens on the drive home and the neck stiffens from leaning over the same bench.
None of that is a mystery, and it is worth getting looked at before it settles in. Andrew looks at how you stand, move and load through a shift, finds the muscles and joints doing more than their share, and treats them directly. Then you get a plan built around the hours you actually work.
If the pain has been there for months rather than weeks, the approach changes but the welcome does not. Persistent pain is a core focus here.

Dry needling for the muscles a long shift tightens
Trigger point dry needling has been a core focus for Andrew since 2012. For people who stand and lean all day it is a direct way to settle the deep knotted spots in the calves, gluteal muscles, upper trapezius and along the spine, and it is always paired with hands on release and mobilisation.
There is a separate dry needling page for Gymea with more on what it feels like and what it helps.
Feet, backs and necks: the usual suspects after a long shift
Plantar fasciitis and heel pain are common for anyone on hard floors. Lower back pain is another regular one, usually from hours of standing with very little change of position. Neck and shoulder tension comes from the repeated lean over a bench or a till.
Treatment starts at the sore spot but does not stop there. Footwear, standing habits, how you lift a crate or reach across a counter, and the strength of the calves and hips all get looked at, because that is where the load comes from. The exercise program is kept short enough to fit around a shift.
Hurt at work in Gymea? The claim is handled from here
A slip on a wet kitchen floor or a back strain unloading a delivery is a workers compensation matter, and the paperwork should not land on you. Andrew is a SIRA approved physiotherapist with about a decade of occupational rehabilitation work behind him. Approved claims are billed directly to the insurer, with nothing to pay, and the clinical reports go to the case manager from the clinic.
The same goes for CTP motor accident claims, and for workers compensation with icare scheme agents, WorkCover Queensland or Comcare.
