Work injury care for the whole Sutherland Shire

The Shire is full of workplaces that put a load on the body, from the retail floors and offices around Westfield Miranda and the Kingsway, to the trades and warehousing out at Taren Point and Kirrawee, hospitality along Cronulla, and healthcare across the local hospitals. We treat injured workers from all of it, from our clinic in Miranda that sits central to the Shire.

Getting in is easy with early, evening and weekend appointments that fit around suitable duties and shift work. If you cannot make it that week, PACT Virtual Care carries your treatment and reporting on by telehealth across NSW.

Work injury is different

A physio who knows the claim side as well as the injury

Treating a work injury well means more than good hands on care. Your physiotherapist writes the recovery reports your case manager relies on, recommends capacity that feeds your Certificate of Capacity, works alongside your rehabilitation provider, and helps shape the plan that gets you back to work safely. Done poorly, that paperwork is exactly what makes a claim stall.

Andrew Ellis founded PACT after a decade inside the occupational rehabilitation system, working as a Senior Rehabilitation Consultant for national providers and as a Senior Workplace Health and Safety and Injury Management Advisor inside large Australian organisations. He has managed injured worker caseloads, written return to work plans, and advised the employers and insurers on the other side of the process. That experience is built into how every PACT report is written and every recovery is planned.

Your rights

The choice of physio is yours

On a NSW workers compensation claim you have the right to choose your own SIRA approved physiotherapist. Your employer or insurer can suggest a clinic, but the decision is yours, and you can change physios during your claim. If you move to PACT partway through, we take over with one pre approved session and handle the approval paperwork from there.

You do not need a GP referral to start physiotherapy on a claim. Where your injury has not been treated by a physiotherapist, chiropractor, osteopath or accredited exercise physiologist before, and treatment begins within three months of the injury, SIRA allows up to eight consultations on an accepted claim before any further approval is needed. The number can differ in other situations, for example up to three if treatment starts more than three months after the injury, so we always confirm your exact arrangement with your insurer or case manager first.

Insurers

Billed directly, no gap for you

We treat workers insured through the icare scheme agents, including EML, Allianz, Gallagher Bassett, QBE and DXC, as well as self insured employers and interstate schemes where NSW treatment is approved. We manage WorkCover Queensland claims too.

Every invoice goes straight to the insurer under SIRA rates. You never handle a bill, chase a rebate or pay a gap on an accepted claim, from your first assessment to your final discharge report.

Who you will see

Led by Andrew Ellis

PACT was founded by Andrew Ellis, our principal physiotherapist, an AHPRA registered and SIRA approved physiotherapist who is completing an Executive MBA. Every PACT physiotherapist works to the same approach he built and treats alongside him, so the quality of your care and your reporting does not change with who you see.

That consistency is what Shire case managers and rehabilitation providers rely on. Clear reports, capacity advice that stands up, and a plan that keeps your recovery and your return to work moving in the same direction.

Cost

No out of pocket cost

On an accepted workers compensation or CTP claim, your treatment is billed directly to the insurer. There is no gap and nothing for you to pay at your appointment, and we handle the invoicing for you. If you are a private patient, see our fees.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know

Do you treat workers from across the Sutherland Shire?
Yes. Our Miranda clinic is central to the Shire and treats injured workers from Cronulla to Menai to Engadine and everywhere between, and PACT Virtual Care covers the rest of NSW by telehealth. On an accepted claim both are billed direct to the insurer with nothing for you to pay.
Can I choose my own physio for my workers comp claim?
Yes. In NSW you have the right to choose your own SIRA approved physiotherapist. Your employer or insurer can suggest a clinic, but the choice is yours, and you can change physios during your claim. If you move to PACT partway through, we take over with one pre approved session and handle the approval paperwork from there.
How many physio sessions do I get before approval?
Where your injury has not been treated by a physiotherapist, chiropractor, osteopath or accredited exercise physiologist before, and treatment begins within three months of the injury, SIRA allows up to eight consultations on an accepted claim before any further approval is needed. The number can differ in other situations, for example up to three if treatment starts more than three months after the injury. After that we send your insurer an Allied Health Treatment Request and continue once it is approved. We always confirm the exact arrangement with your insurer or case manager.
Do I need a GP referral to see a physio on workers comp?
No. Under SIRA rules you can start physiotherapy on an accepted claim without a GP referral. You will need a claim number, and your Certificate of Capacity comes from your nominated treating doctor for the claim itself, but treatment does not wait for a referral.
Which insurers do you bill directly?
All icare scheme agents including EML, Allianz, Gallagher Bassett, QBE and DXC, plus self insured employers and interstate schemes where NSW treatment is approved. We also manage WorkCover Queensland claims. If you are not sure who your insurer is, bring your claim number and we will work it out.
How fast can I be seen?
Usually within a few days, often faster. The clinic runs seven days with appointments to 9pm on weekdays, and telehealth adds even more flexibility. Early treatment is strongly linked to better recovery on work injuries, so we prioritise new claims.
