Physiotherapy with Bupa extras in Miranda
Bupa members with extras that include physiotherapy can claim their benefit at PACT. Here is exactly how it works at our Miranda clinic, from checking your cover to walking out having paid only the gap.
What Bupa extras pays toward physiotherapy
Bupa extras policies that include physiotherapy pay a set benefit toward each consultation, and the amount depends on which level of extras you hold and how much of your annual physiotherapy limit is left. Bupa can tell you your exact benefit in the myBupa app, online or over the phone, and it takes about a minute to check.
Benefits are payable for consultations with AHPRA registered physiotherapists, which every physiotherapist at PACT is. If you want certainty before you book, ask Bupa what your benefit is for an initial physiotherapy consultation and a follow up, then compare that against our fees of $165 and $142. Whatever the difference is, that is your whole cost.
Claiming at PACT, start to finish
Book online or call the clinic, no referral needed. Bring your Bupa membership card to your appointment. After your session you can claim on the spot and pay only the gap on the day, which is how most of our Bupa patients do it.
If you pay in full instead, claiming back is quick. Your receipt carries the provider details and item codes Bupa needs, and you can submit it through the myBupa app by photographing the receipt, or online through your Bupa account. Benefits are typically paid straight back to your nominated bank account.
Limits, waiting periods and running out
Your Bupa physiotherapy benefits sit under an annual limit that on most policies resets on 1 January, and unused benefits generally do not carry over. If you have recently taken out or upgraded extras, a short waiting period usually applies before you can claim, often around two months, so confirm it has passed before your first session.
If you reach your annual limit partway through treatment, sessions simply revert to our standard private fees, and where you are eligible a Medicare Chronic Disease Management plan from your GP can contribute toward up to five sessions a year instead. We will always tell you the fee before any appointment, so nothing lands on you as a surprise.
An independent clinic that makes Bupa claiming easy
PACT Physio and Rehab is an independent physiotherapy clinic in Miranda. We are not owned by or affiliated with Bupa or any health fund, and you are free to use your Bupa extras with any AHPRA registered physiotherapist you choose. What we control is the standard of the appointment itself.
Initial appointments run a full 60 minutes one on one, follow ups run 40 minutes, and where clinically appropriate trigger point dry needling is included within the standard consultation rather than billed separately. We are at Unit 1, 196 Sylvania Road, Miranda, open Monday to Friday 7:30am to 9pm and weekends 8:30am to 6pm.
What you will actually pay
The full fee is $165 for an initial visit and $142 for a follow up, and every appointment is a full, unhurried session with the time to work through complex, persistent problems. Once your cover is applied, here is what you actually pay.
Before any rebate. Private paying is welcome, and your fee buys the whole session, never a rushed 20 minutes.
A GP Chronic Disease Management referral rebates $61.80 on every visit, up to 5 a year.
The usual out of pocket once you claim on the spot, depending on your level of cover.
Nothing for you to pay at any visit. Accepted workers compensation and CTP motor accident claims are billed straight to your insurer, and we handle the paperwork.
The bars compare what an initial and a follow up visit cost you on each pathway.
