Why this clinic

Local physiotherapy that plans the whole way back

When you look for help with a sports injury near you, you usually want two things. Someone close enough to see this week, and someone who will help you get back to your sport rather than just settle the pain. Our Miranda clinic is set up for both, with early starts, late finishes and weekend sessions so training and work do not have to give way for treatment.

Every plan starts by assessing the injury and the real demands of your sport, whether that is sprinting, cutting, jumping, lifting or distance. From there we manage the early settling, rebuild the strength and control the injury took away, and bring you back through a graded return with milestones you can see. You return when you can do the job safely, not on a guessed date.

Andrew Ellis, our founder and principal physiotherapist, holds a Bachelor of Science (Exercise Science), a Master of Physiotherapy, is completing an Executive MBA, and brings 16 years of experience. He is an AHPRA registered and SIRA approved physiotherapist, the physiotherapist behind @thedryneedlingphysio, and the founder and host of World Health Webinars, an online education platform that delivered courses to more than 5,000 clinicians across 14 countries.

What we treat

Common sports injuries we see

From a fresh acute injury to a niggle that will not settle, we manage the strains, sprains, tendon problems and overuse injuries that come with training and competing. The right plan depends on your assessment, so treatment is built around your sport and your goals.

A few of the injuries we most often help active people with:

  • Ankle sprains, from first roll to confident return
  • ACL injuries and post surgical knee rehab
  • Calf and hamstring strains
  • Tendon problems such as Achilles and patellar tendinopathy
  • Shin pain and other overuse and load related injuries
  • Loss of confidence or repeat injury in the same spot
How it works

Assess, rebuild, return to sport

Step one is a thorough assessment. We work out exactly what is injured, why it happened, and what your sport demands of that area, so the plan targets what you actually need to do on the park or in the gym.

Step two is the rebuild. Hands on treatment settles things early where it helps, then strength, control and movement work restores the capacity the injury took away. We usually find ways to keep you moving and training around the injury rather than stopping completely.

Step three is the return to sport. A graded, milestone based return aims to get you back with confidence rather than guesswork, and a big part of that final phase is building the strength and control that can lower the chance of the same injury returning.

Lowering re injury risk

Built to keep you on the park

Getting back is only half the job. The injuries that keep active people sidelined are often the ones that return because the underlying strength, control or load tolerance was never fully restored.

That is why the late stage of every plan is about durability. We progress your loading toward the true demands of your sport, test the things that actually matter for your injury, and leave you with a clear plan to maintain it. The aim is a return that holds, rather than a quick fix that breaks down a few weeks later.

Many active people find that the work pays off well beyond the current injury, with better movement and resilience for day to day training.
