Your first visit

What to expect when you come in

Your first appointment runs a full 60 minutes. We listen to the whole story, examine you properly, and explain what is going on in plain language. From there you leave with a clear diagnosis and a starting plan, not a vague handout.

Treatment is hands on and evidence based. That can mean soft tissue release, joint mobilisation and trigger point dry needling to settle pain and tension, paired with a tailored exercise and rehab program so the gains hold. Follow up visits run 40 minutes and build on where you are up to.

Who we help

The injuries we see most

From a fresh sprain to pain that has dragged on for months, we assess, diagnose and build a plan to get you moving. A lot of what walks through the door is back and neck pain, headaches, shoulder and knee trouble, and stubborn chronic pain that has not settled with rest alone.

We also care for people injured at work or on the road, and offer physiotherapy for sports injuries for weekend and club athletes wanting to get back to training safely.

Work and road injuries

Direct insurer billing, no gap on approved claims

If you have been hurt at work or in a motor vehicle accident, the physio near me question usually comes with another one: what will it cost. On an accepted workers compensation or CTP claim, reasonably necessary treatment is billed directly to your insurer, so there is no gap fee and nothing for you to pay at your appointment. We invoice the insurer on your behalf and handle the paperwork.

We work across icare NSW and its agents EML, Allianz, Gallagher Bassett, QBE and DXC, the CTP insurers NRMA, QBE, GIO and Allianz, and WorkCover Queensland. We also work alongside your nominated treating doctor so our treatment supports the plan in your Certificate of Capacity, and send your insurer an Allied Health Treatment Request if you need sessions beyond the initial approved care. Every claim is a little different, so we confirm your exact arrangement with your insurer or case manager before we begin.

Who you will see

Experienced care, from the principal physiotherapist

PACT is led by Andrew Ellis, founder and principal physiotherapist. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science (UOW), a Graduate Entry Master of Physiotherapy (USyd), is completing an Executive MBA (UNSW), and is an AHPRA registered and SIRA approved physiotherapist with more than 14 years of dry needling experience.

Andrew has extensive experience in workers compensation and occupational rehabilitation. Drawing on his background as a Senior Rehabilitation Consultant and Workplace Health and Safety Advisor, and his work advising insurers and employers on injury management, he works closely with doctors, case managers and employers to support a safe, sustainable return to work. He is also the physiotherapist behind @thedryneedlingphysio, and founder and host of World Health Webinars, which delivered courses to more than 5,000 clinicians across 14 countries.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know

Is there a physio near me in the Sutherland Shire?
Yes. PACT Physio & Rehab is in Miranda at Unit 1/196 Sylvania Road, central to the Shire and an easy run from the beaches, the western suburbs and across the Georges River. We care for patients right across the Sutherland Shire from this one clinic, with telehealth available Australia wide.
Can I get a same day physiotherapy appointment?
Often, yes. We are open 7 days with early and late times, Monday to Friday 7:30am to 9pm and weekends 8:30am to 6pm, so same day appointments are frequently available. Book online or call (02) 8330 6776 and we will find you the earliest suitable time.
How much does physiotherapy cost?
Initial physiotherapy is $165 for a 60 minute first visit, and follow ups are $142 for 40 minutes. Approved workers compensation and CTP appointments are billed directly to the insurer, so there is no gap for you to pay.
Do I need a referral to book?
No referral is needed to book privately. A referral is required for Medicare Chronic Disease Management plans, and for an accepted workers compensation or CTP claim a claim number lets us bill the insurer directly. We can guide you through it.
Is there a gap to pay for work and road injuries?
On an accepted workers compensation or CTP claim, reasonably necessary treatment is billed directly to your insurer, so there is no gap fee and nothing for you to pay at your appointment. This applies to accepted claims and approved treatment only, and we always confirm your exact arrangement with your insurer or case manager before we begin.
What if I cannot get to the Miranda clinic?
PACT Virtual Care offers telehealth physiotherapy across Australia, which is handy for the days getting in is hard. For workers compensation, telehealth is more restricted and usually needs to be combined with in person care and approved by your insurer, so we assess what suits your situation and arrange any approval required.
